Description
The banana is a large scale artwork intended to bring fun and interest to a room. Kim has painted the banana in oil paint and, by using a limited palette and strong black outlines, has achieved a comic-book, graphic art style. Peter has then applied a layer of artists resin that will not only protect the painting but adds to the ‘pop art’ look with a highly glossy, glass-like finish.
As with all the panels, we carefully cut out the shape with either a jig or scroll saw depending on the size. In this case, the painting has been protected with a layer of UV resistant artists varnish before its resin coating is applied and the edges protected all the way round with a decorative, yet practical, metal strip. The backs are painted in a neutral, flat colour and stamped and signed by the artist.
