Description
Blue Rome 2 -Capriccio – is one of a series of ongoing works on classical architecture.
It is the second in a series of 3 landscapes in Prussian Blue that feature buildings designed for the Eternal City. In keeping with the fantastical nature of capriccio, not every building featured was ever completed for the city or still exists.
Peter’s fascination for buildings and architectural detail results in him producing many capriccio paintings. Capriccio are paintings where collections of buildings or ruins are the main focus of the artwork. The architectural elements are often shown out of context in adapted, imagined or even abstract landscapes. In his monochrome paintings, Peter covers the surface of the canvas in Islamic and Renaissance style buildings which creates a textural feel. This particular series is executed in shades of Prussian Blue.
