Description
Lempicka Study is a charcoal copy by Peter Taylor Ward of a portrait originally painted by Tamara de Lempicka. The drawing is executed in charcoal and conté crayon on paper and seeks to explore the exaggerated lines Lempicka used. This stylisation of the subject epitomises the Art Deco period in which she was prevalent. Lempicka was a Polish Artist whose work embraced and influenced the Art Deco Style. Her second marriage was to a Baron and so she became known as the ‘Baroness with a brush’. Her status meant that her subjects were often aristocrats and entrepeneurs and the paintings reflected their wealthy lifestyles.
The charcoal drawing has been mounted on a 12mm deep wood panel and finished with a thick high gloss, UV resistant Resin coating giving a tile-like appearance.
A recess in the back of the panel allows it to hang from a slightly protruding screw head in the wall. No additional fixings are required.
Easel not included. Watermark shown does not appear on the painting.
Dimensions 322mm x 252mm x 12mm
